Swim Workouts
Swimming is considered to be one of the best workouts for maintaining the cardio vascular fitness, and even to enhance and maintain the over all fitness level. Swimming typically involves simultaneous and rigorous movements of both legs and hands as a result the workout enables full body exercise. Swimming can also be categorized as an intensive exercise and greatly helps in burning large number of calories. In fact it is considered as the best workout to lose weight and supplements with quick and long term results.
Swimming involves various styles by which a person can float and move ahead which are typically referred as strokes. These styles mainly involve the general style, freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and the dry land stroke.
Swim workouts for professionals are decided upon different ability levels and are classified as Lap swimmer, Master level 1, Master level 2, Master level 3, Aquatic fitness, USS ABC level, USS pre-senior level and USS junior/senior national level. On the other hand there are various swim workouts for each level which mainly include Sprint free style, Middle distance free, Distance free, Butterfly, Back stroke, Breast stroke, Individual medley, Open water and Aquatic fitness. Further more, these workouts are time bound and begin from 20 minutes.
Similarly there are Intermediate swim workouts, which involve swimming over a distance of 1500-2500 yards and 3000-5000 yards. The schedule mainly includes a swim warm up, which involves swimming drills and then the main work out is preformed. For instance a 3000-5000 yard workout involves a warm up of 500 freestyle swimming, 200 kick easy 100 swim easy. Then it is followed by another warm up of 500 freestyle very easy, 200 kicks easy 100 swim easy and 6 x 50’s repetition with a 20 seconds rest. The main workout includes the second warm up, 600 yards freestyle drill, 20 x 50,s freestyle reps with 5-10 seconds rest and finally a 300 yard freestyle swim down very easy. Like wise there are different work out schedules even for beginners, which involve lesser distances from 200 yards to 600 yards.
A proper schedule of swim work out can greatly help in achieving a lean body with enhanced stamina and higher body power.
